ABOUT THE RECIPIENT Morgan is a beautiful 7-year-old girl who is loving, funny, smart, and active. She was diagnosed with Autism, OCD, and Sensory Processing Disorder when she was 2 years old. She struggles with verbal communication and emotional regulation. Morgan may be autistic, but it does not define her. She loves animals, nature, swimming, the beach, and anything to do with the ocean! One of her favorite things is playing outside, but due to possible elopement and being adept at climbing, must always be watched. Having a service dog will be such a life changing opportunity for Morgan!

ABOUT THE EVENT NCBA is proud to present the 6th Annual 5K-9 Road Race and introduce The Barking Lot street market! This great fundraiser is a pet friendly, socially distanced event which raises money to purchase a service animal for Cobb County Students and Residents.

The race was founded when the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office lost one of its beloved canines. NCBA wanted to start a fundraiser to aid the purchase of a service dog for the sheriff’s office. Thus, the 5K-9 Race was born. Since its founding, the 5K-9 event has raised money to provide service and support dogs for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, the Cobb County Police Department, a US Military Veteran, a student with Autism, and most recently the Cobb County District Attorney’s office.

In addition to this amazing fundraising event, NCBA is thrilled to announce the addition of our “Barking Lot”. The Barking Lot will be a pet and family friendly street market with all kinds of vendors, activities, and food. Our hope is that the Barking Lot serves the community as a socially distanced, open aired event to feed all our need for a little bit of community and a lot of doing good, especially these chaotic times.

This year, for the first time in the event’s history, NCBA will be placing THREE service dogs. While we are not ready to release all the details, the first will be a Cobb County Student who struggles with Autism. Please stay tuned for more details about all of our recipients.

NCBA is very passionate about and active in our community. This event is so much more than an opportunity to raise funds to provide a service animal – it is our desire that this event would also provide the community with an opportunity to get out of their houses and engage together, safely.
